What is Life Coaching?
LIFE COACHING is NOT:
Life coaching requires that as a client, you commit to:
My commitment to you as a life coach is to:
- therapy, consulting, casual conversation or the coach telling you what to do.
- a means for diagnosing or treating mental illness.
- consulting. A consultant a person with specific skills and background who is hired to solve a specific problem. A consultant gives information, answers and tools for the client to implement.*
- About empowering you to create your own pathways and meanings and for me to act as a facilitator, guide, cheerleader, encourager and coach (of course!) throughout the process.
- A powerful experience that connects you to your inner wisdom and that helps create the future you desire with consciousness.
- Not going to evaluate, assess or critique you or your life in any way. It is a non-judgmental experience.
- An experience where you and I are equals. You know you best! We each bring our own experiences and skills to the table, but you are in change of participating and creating the change you wish to see in your life.
- Using creative exercises, inquiry and mindful awareness, sessions support you in creating self compassion, mindfulness, new perspectives (or lenses) and deep and lasting change.
- A metamorphosis. Many come to coaching while "melting down into nothingness"-that stage when the caterpillar melts inside the cocoon. This is a good and healthy thing! As a Martha Beck Trained Life Coach, I support you through the 4 Stages of Metamorphosis (melting down, imagining, reforming and taking flight).
Life coaching requires that as a client, you commit to:
- entering a partnership with the life coach (That's me),
- honoring yourself (physical & emotional needs) during our sessions,
- being curious about your thoughts, emotions and behaviors,
- "doing the work" (both in and out of sessions) to create the changes you desire, and
- showing up on time for yourself & our appointments.
My commitment to you as a life coach is to:
- be authentic, to listen deeply, to be honest, and supportive, to act with integrity,
- to honor where you are in your journey,
- to provide a safe mentoring space,
- to tap my instincts and knowledge,
- to encourage curiosity, gentleness, playfulness & authenticity as our "way of being" together, &
- to be on time for you and our appointments.
